For some reason, we humans love to comment on other people’s weight.
Somehow, we got it into our heads that someone’s size bears some sort of relationship to their moral character. We idly gossip about another person’s weight as though putting on 40 pounds deserves the same opprobrium as starving a pack of puppies.
